First Soccer Game

Well we signed Caroline's up for soccer this year. It is her first time to ever play a team sport. I am not totally sure what happened but we were not on the team roster so we never got a call about practice or anything. We decided to just show up for the game and see what happens, we did try to practice with Caroline in the yard teaching her the "game" of soccer. Number 1 rule: don't touch the ball with your hands! So Caroline and Greg arrived at the game, found the Freedom team and introduced Caroline. They did not know she was on their team, so she did not have a team uniform (they are the yellow team). Caroline sat out the first quarter so I was trying to show her what all her teammates were doing and for her to do that same thing. Well for the second quarter Caroline goes in....she stands where the coach puts her....she does not move! We yell "get the ball Caroline" what does the girl do? Bend over and touch the ball!!! Remember rule number 1? Caroline did not. We took lots of pictures of her so enjoy looking at her first game:)

Wearing her coat because it was really cold!

Look she has moved from her spot the coach put her, she is thinking of going after the ball!

This was the only time she actually kicked the ball, when the coach had her kick it in or because of a penalty.

Here she is still standing in the place the coach put her...see everyone else down the field? She is not even looking at the game.

This is toward the end of the game. Caroline was complaining about being cold, hungry, thirsty (anything to get to come off the field). The coach had a hard time hearing what she was saying, coach looked to us to see what she was saying and her daddy said "tell her to suck it up." Here is her sucking it up...oh wait that is pouting.

After the game, Caroline was all smiles. When you ask her if she had a great time playing soccer she will tell you yes! I think after she has had some practice time with her team she might actually follow the ball and try to kick it. We shall see. Oh, we will also dress her warmer next time and bring water for her to drink!
