Canoe Trip

We went on a 20 mile canoe trip Friday and Saturday on the Brazos river. We went with our friends the Bannerman 's and Durand's. We brought all our equipment in our canoes and had a great time camping out... it has been a long time since we have tent camped. This is the starting point with the Durand's in the picture. We had a shuttle take us 20 miles up the river, drop us off then we canoed back to where our car was.
Scenery pictures, this is supposed to be some of the most scenic areas of the Brazos River. It had beautiful bluffs with a lot of wildlife around. We saw deer crossing the river, lots of Herons, turkey, hawks, and even small herds of cows.
We had a few pictures taken of us.. but we had the only working camera so there are not many pictures of us. I did do some paddling... but I picked up the paddle just for the picture so it looks like I paddled a lot. Later on you will see my favorite way to go down the river:)
"rapids", ok so not everything in Texas is big!
We set up camp on a little island. It was perfect for campfires because it had drift wood all over it and they guys had no problems getting a good fire started for our smores that night.

Canoe Trip continued

Tricia and I... notice the difference in our shirts... yes I am cold natured but Tricia was a bit cold also.

Big BM or breaking a stick?
The Bannerman's the next morning.. it was a cold night but thanks to Greg's warm fire we were able to warm up quickly. Also thanks to the Bannerman's bringing hot chocolate!!! I almost asked them at 6am if it was ready yet.. the sun was not up but I was cold. This was my favorite way to travel down the river... Greg has both of our paddles!!!

Friends

I am catching up on my blogging since it has been so long since the last time. For more pictures of Caroline during the time lapse of my blogs, click on the Durands blog on the right... she has done a better job of keeping up and there are several pictures of Caroline on there.
We have started a dinner 8 group as a way to get to know some of the other young couples in our church that we do not know very well. Our first dinner was the past Sunday so below is a picture of all but 3 kids.... so yes it was a little crazy but sooo much fun!!! I think I am going to like all the people in our group (I had to say that since some of them will be reading this.. jk)!!!
This week since it has been such beautiful weather several of us mom's got together for a picnic at the park. The weather will be getting cold soon so we have to enjoy the warmth while it lasts!
The girls swinging on the monkey bars:
Later that day since Caroline had so much fun playing with her real friends she got out all her animal friends and told stories to them and just sat in the chair talking to everyone... it was pretty cute! In case you wonder the names of everyone, there is: snowman, lamb, singing puppy, pink, brown, and bear... pretty original names!!!

AWANA's

Caroline has started AWANA's this year. It is kinda like GA's and RA's for those of us "old" church folks. She absolutely loves it and I love hearing her learn God's word. She has at least one bible verse she has to memorize each week. Anyway she finally got her vest for AWANA's and was so excited... she only gets to wear it when we go to church on Wed... that way she will keep it on the whole time because she thinks it is special. So below is the pic I took of her in her vest for the first time... she is so excited. It has taken me awhile to post this picture because she now has two patches on her vest for memorizing scripture.

Nicholas' birthday

Ok so Caroline's friend Nicholas had his birthday last month and I am a little behind putting them on the blog... I know kinda odd to put another persons childs birthday on my blog... but the real reason is the first picture. Caroline is in the middle (obviously) but what you do not know is that both of the kids next to her are older than she is.... Do you think she is tall like her daddy? Here is a picture of all the kids that came to the party. Caroline is standing next to Nicholas' sister Emma... she is in Kindergarten this year!! Nicholas had his party at the jumping party... a very fun place for all kids (and adults too).
